Lake Committee Minutes
LAKE COMMITTEE MEETING:
A Lake Committee meeting was held Tue night (Mar 3), 7:00 at Chuck
Gleason's house.
Participants:
Joe Shea
Chuck Gleason
Mark Petrie
Steve Morse
Todd Fogglesong
Kelvin Kelm
Discussion Topics:
* Review of shoreline repair work on island and common areas.
- Island and common property slope repairs complete in Dec.
- Decided against fabric due to comparison of installed cost vs periodic
touch-up. We can do touch-up repairs periodically with Dixon for a
fraction of the cost.
- Will require a periodic maintenance plan
* Review of personal shoreline repairs.
- All but a couple of minor issues completed by property owners. Skiing
conditions and erosion issues will be significantly improved this year.
* Review of island irrigation system installed
- Island irrigation system is complete except for installation of the
electric meeter by the power company.
- ACTION: Todd Fogglesong following. Should be complete within a week.
* Island seeding plan
- 300 pounds of rye seed was planted in Nov/Dec.
- Plan to seed Bermuda and short wildflowers around March 15.
- Need to have island irrigation system functional.
- ACTION: Chuck Gleason will order Bermuda seed from his landscaper at
cost.
- ACTION: Chuck Gleason has free wildflower seed being delivered.
* Repair under boat ramp dock.
- Agreed to place Sacrete bads under dock.
- ACTION: Mark Petrie to purchase and install Sacrete bags. COMPLETE
7-Mar-2009.
* Review tunnel approach work done this past week.
- Concrete tunnel approaches looking good.
- Mike Elam asked Joe for opinion on need for french drain that Joe had
suggested to ensure no hydraulic pressure behind wall. Two of eight
walls are already backfiled with no french drain.
- Lake Committee members present at the meeting discussed pro's and
con's. Agreed that it was reasonable to proceed without French drains
because of 1) cost, 2) timing, 3) probably enough hydraulic pressure
around both ends of wall, 4) TEE anchors behind wall are significant in
weight, and 4) not a large water source behind walls.
- ACTION: Joe Shea to leave message for Mike Elam to continue backfill.
COMPLETE 4-Mar-2009.
- ACTION: Complete walls and backfill. COMPLETE 7-Mar-2009.
* Condition of depth and rocks in water around and in the north tunnel
- Caution about remaining shallow spots.
- Significant amount of rocks were still in tunnel at the time of the
meeting per survey by Mark and Joe.
- ACTION: Joe Shea to organize a group to remove rock by hand. COMPLETE
7-Mar-2009.
Thanks to Mark, Chuck, Nick, Woody, Todd Fry, Doug, Joe and even Keith
for pulling a thousand rocks out of the north tunnel Saturday evening.
* Predicted refill schedule
- Resumed pumping on Feb 26
- Feb 26 PM: 18-3/4" low
- Mar 8 PM: 16-7/8" low
- Fill rate varies from 0"/day for dry windy weather to 3/8"/day with
lower wind and moderate humidity.
- At this rate, it will take 30-36 days (Early Apr) to get up to 8"
below spillway if we don't get rain.
- ACTION: Continue pumping.
* Predicted timing for maintaining "No Wake" on mid lakes.
- Need some time for soil compaction and vegitation growth
- Expect to retain No-Wake restriction on mid lakes until well into Apr.
Will need to assess timing of lifting the no-wake on mid lakes in Apr.
* Plans for Gypsum addition
- Recommend water testing by Shance Tyson around Apr 15 (??) and
scheduling based on those results
- ACTION: David Welch to contact Shance Tyson or provide contact info to
Joe Shea.
* Plan for dye addition
- Joe Shea has enough dye in his shed remaining from last year
- ACTION: Add dye a couple weeks after gypsum addition.
* Plan for work barge (location, anchoring, padding, use for starting
dock? Is this a Ski Club function, Lake Committee function, or Capital
Committee function?)
- Recommended plan is to install another finger pier near on the other
side of the current dock storage loaction near the boat ramp.
- Allow 3 ft (1-1/2 foot per side) clearance.
- ACTION: Todd Fogglesong to discuss with Board at Mar 10 meeting.
* Confirm schedule for routine water sampling for 2009 ()
- Plan from Apr 2008 was to test North/Mid/South lakes Apr, Jun, Jul,
Aug, Sep, Nov
- Skip Apr test due to recent fill and gypsum addition planned.
- ACTION: Steve Morse to do water testing in Jun, Jul, Aug

- Minor work required to reduce the gap under the gate in a few spots to
prevent carp escaping when overflowing.
- ACTION: Woody Lyles is working
* Get a Capital Committee report on plans for landscaping, vegitation,
irrigation, etc.
- South Lake / Morton Road vegitation cleared.
- Fill added and bulldozed (6-Mar-2009)
- Plans for white fence
- Plans for irrigation
- Plans for 200 trees (Japanese Blueberry) and 200 bushes.
