BOAT INSURANCE AND COMPLIANCE

·       All boats must maintain liability insurance coverage, with minimum coverage of $100,000; have a copy of the current insurance certificate on file with the POA, and list all applicable drivers on the policy.

·       The policy must list the Lakes of Katy POA as an additional insured.

·       All boats must have a current Lakes of Katy sticker present.  In order to get and maintain a sticker each year, every boat owner must be in compliance with the above insurance requirements as well as to be current on your POA dues.  If a boat is seen on the lakes without a sticker, the boat owner will have up to 30 days to be in compliance.  After the 30 days lapse, the Lakes of Katy POA will have the right to assess a $250.00 fine for each month out of compliance, beginning on the 31st day.

·       All boat stickers can be obtained through MMC, Inc., the management company.

BOAT LIMITATIONS

·       Each Ski Club member may have only one boat on the water at any time (except with prior approval of the Board of Directors).

·       Motorized boats must be propelled by inboard propulsion to include either a direct drive system or a V-drive system and must have boat manufacturer installed tracking fins on the hull of the boat or be an USA Water Ski approved tow boat.  Additionally, no boat is to exceed 23 feet in length.

·       All boats shall be kept seaworthy, with steering systems and controls in good working order.

·       All factory installed noise reduction devices (mufflers, baffles, insulation, and the like) must be in place and working properly.

·       The use of personal watercraft (jet skis or similar type watercraft) is by special day permit only.  Requires advance day permit, issued by the POA board.  Also requires proof of liability insurance.

·       Any new boat purchased while living in the neighborhood must meet the above rules

·       A non-compliant boat that has been grandfathered to the current owner will not be approved for use by subsequent owners.

BOAT OPERATIONS

·       All boat drivers must be sufficiently proficient in navigation of the lakes, and familiar with the obstacles, shallow spots and other hazards which are present in the lake areas.
