The Role of the Lake Committee

The role of the Lake Committee is to manage the lake.  This includes the water quality, rules of use, lake level, clarity, color, shoreline erosion and slope, no ski zones, opening and closing of a lake for maintenance, and just about anything else that is associated with the water.  Having such a beautify place to live requires constant maintenance.  The members of the Lake Committee are all committed to assuring that all LOK families have an enjoyable experience while on and around the water.

Before using the lakes, make sure you have read and understand all the Lake Use Rules. If you have any questions on the rules, please contact anyone on the Lake Committee.  We also have some good information about Boat Docks, and Warnings about the grass fertilizers you may be using.

Current or Latest Project Status:

The Lake Committee worked over the winter to fix the slope of the island and neighborhood common areas.  They worked one-on-one with neighbors to recommend the best options for repairing shoreline slopes.  For anyone that wishes to have repairs made to shorelines, they highly recommend contacting the following company:

Dixon Brother's Tractor, Mowing, & Dozer Service
Contact: Fredrick Dixon at 832-731-6525

The Lakes had to be lowered almost two feet in order to re-slope the island in the mid lakes.  Once that was complete, the Lake Committee planted rye grass during the winter and started the slow process of refilling the lakes.  Joe Shea has been monitoring the lake level and keeping everyone up-to-date with the refill process.  Around March 15, once the weather warmed up, the committee planted bermuda grass seed on the island in the mid lakes.  The mid lakes are to remained closed for skiing until the grass has time to germinate and take route.  We are hoping to re-open the lakes the first or second week in April.

LAKE LEVEL:
Lake is full as of May 19

Other projects completed by the committee:
- Purchased new work barge for neighborhood, which will also be used as a starting dock for tournaments
- Cleared thousands of rocks from the North Lake tunnel to prevent prop damage
