Activity in 2008/2009:
The Lake Committee has addressed all of the major issues and is now in a maintenance mode.
Communications to Community
- All Lake Committee info loaded to Lake Committee section of new skilakesofkaty.com website.
Shoreline Maintenance
- All common-area shorelines repaired (Island, East ends of all lakes, Out-lots, South lake)
- Work barge successfully used to transport heavy equipment for island repair.
- Long-term shoreline maintenance plan will be developed this year as we monitor erosion patterns.
- A great majority of lakefront property owners made shoreline repairs while the lakes were down. Thanks to all.
- Removed rocks from north tunnel to prevent prop damage.
Weed Control
- Eighty triploid grass carp were added in the spring of 2008. The carp are doing a great job of keeping the weeds under control. (They are growing like a weed… No pun intended.)
- Grass carp grate at spillway installed to prevent loss of carp.
- No chemicals added since early 2008.
Water Clarity
- Water clarity is fair/good.
- Gypsum added in Apr 2009 (4 truck loads). Probably lost a lot with the extra 12 inches of lake water that overflowed shortly after. Gypsum was not having as rapid an affect as previously experienced; will be checking with consultant for other ideas.
Water Testing
- Water testing was conducted several times in the spring and summer of 2008. Great results with no bacterial problems.
- No water testing has been done in 20099 yet. We are waiting till summer since there was so much well water and rain water added recently.
Water Color
- Added 8 jugs of dye on 7May09.
Boat Compliance Decals
- 2009 decals were provided to MMC for distribution to those in compliance with dues, insurance, etc.
Slalom Course Maintenance & Jump Ramp Maintenance
- Watersports Club (Kelvin Kelm) has responsibility now.
